In Zimbabwe the mine collapsed, there are dead
Two gold miners have died and about 20 others have been trapped underground after a mine collapsed in Zimbabwe. This is reported by the local state newspaper Herald. According to journalists of the publication, miners illegally worked at the gold mine Globe and Phoenix in the city of Kwekwe, about 200 km west of the capital, Harare. The mine was closed in 2007 on the recommendation of the Zimbabwe Environmental Protection Authority (EMA). We were working underground at about 10 p.m. when we suddenly heard noise from the other side of the mine. When we went to see, we realized it was a boulder that fell on our colleagues, one of the miners told reporters. Although we managed to get one person alive, two of our colleagues have already died. We tried to pull them out but to no avail as the boulder was very large, we couldn 't move it. About 20 other miners are still trapped underground, he added. According to the publication, the rescued miner was taken to the general hospital of Kwekwe in critical condition.
