Major international military exercises to be held in Latvia

From April 25 to May 17 and from April 27 to May 22, two major military exercises of NATO and United States combat group will be held simultaneously in Latvia with the participation of national armed forces. This is written by the Tvnet.lv portal. According to journalists, the first Swift Response will be attended by the military of the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Spain, Italy and Latvia. These are tactical exercises of airborne forces, during which general actions of units and military specialists from different countries will be worked out. The second, with the loud name Defender tactical field exercises full spectrum. The US military plans to work out the transfer of its forces and equipment to the ports of Europe in Germany, Poland, Scandinavia and the Baltic states. The total number of people participating in these exercises will be 20,000, as well as heavy military equipment. During the exercises, up to 1,500 foreign military personnel will be present on the territory of Latvia. The participation of the national armed forces of Latvia in these exercises, as well as the stay of such a large number of foreign military personnel in the territory of the country, will be formalized by a separate decision of the Government of Latvia.
