State of emergency for coronavirus imposed in Sudan


The Sovereign Council of the Sudan has imposed a state of emergency to stop the spread of coronavirus. This is reported by the State News Agency of the Sudan Suna with reference to the statement of the spokesman of the Government. The council decided to close all airports, ban the crossing of land and sea border points, making an exception only for humanitarian aid, Mohammad al-Fakki Suleiman told reporters. According to journalists, the first case of coronavirus was identified in Sudan on 13 March. A sick man, aged 50, died in the capital, Khartoum. He arrived from the United Arab Emirates. In order to prevent the spread of the virus, Sudan's bus and air services to neighbouring Egypt were stopped. Flights to China, Iran, Italy, Spain and Japan were also cancelled.
