Fuel prices in Zimbabwe may rise by 150% - Air Force

Gas and diesel prices in Zimbabwe will more than double. This was reported by the Air Force Africa with reference to the message of the Office of Energy Regulation of the country. A 150% increase is expected a day after the Zimbabwean dollar fell more than 50% against international currencies. This happened after the Central Bank of Zimbabwe withdrew the fixed exchange rate in effect since March and introduced a weekly currency auction. Zimbabwe has suffered from fuel shortages for many years, compounded by a shortage of foreign exchange. In January 2019, violent protests broke out in Zimbabwe amid rising fuel prices by more than 120%. As a result of the dispersal of demonstrations, several dozen people died, according to journalists.
