Taliban militants reject information about funding from Russia
Militants of the Taliban movement (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) denied the possibility of receiving funding from Russia. This was reported on June 27 by The New York Times. The statement followed in response to the appearance in the same publication of information that allegedly Russian military intelligence offered terrorists a reward in exchange for attacks on the US military in Afghanistan. Moscow criticized this publication, noting that journalists did not provide any evidence of their words. We declare to our people and to the world that we are not an instrument in anyone's hands, we do not pursue a policy of ensuring the interests of foreign countries, the terrorist statement says. Recall that the Taliban movement (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) arose among the Afghan Pashtuns. Militants are fighting for the creation of a state based on sharia.
