South Korea will provide humanitarian assistance to Syria

The South Korean government decided to allocate 15.6 billion won (~ $13 million) to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in Syria. It is reported by KBS with reference to representatives of the South Korean foreign ministry. According to them, this decision was made public on July 1 during a meeting of representatives of countries assisting Syria and other countries in the region. It is noted that the meeting, which was attended by representatives of 57 countries of the world, was organized by representatives of the European Union and the UN in order to support the international community in Syria in connection with the worsening humanitarian crisis that has been going on since 2011, against the background of coronavirus. During the meeting, the parties expressed concern about the humanitarian crisis in Syria, and also pointed out the importance of a political solution to the situation.
