The launch of the Vega rocket from the Kuru Cosmodrome was delayed until August
The launch of the Vega launch vehicle with a package of small satellites from the Kourou Cosmodrome in French Guiana is scheduled for August 17. This was reported by the press service of the launch operator Arianepspace. Initially, the launch of the Vega rocket with satellites of 21 organizations from 13 different countries was scheduled for June 18. The start was postponed several times due to adverse weather conditions. Since in the short term no improvement in weather conditions is expected, it was decided to postpone the start until August 17, 2020, Arianepspace reported. The company notes that this delay will not interfere with plans to conduct three launches using Vega launch vehicles in 2020. As previously reported by the news agency, the launch of the Vega rocket with a package of 53 satellites was supposed to be the first in 2020 for the Kourou cosmodrome. In March, the French government suspended launches from this cosmodrome due to an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection.
