The effect of breaking the agreement with the Netherlands will be short-lived - economist
The change in the agreement on avoiding double taxation of the Russian Federation and the Netherlands in terms of increasing the tax on Russian dividends can be circumvented. This was reported to the correspondent by the information agency by economist Sergey Khestanov. According to the expert, the Russian side, initiating this process, is aimed at increasing tax revenues to the budget of the Russian Federation. However, this effect will be short-term. It is clear that this year the tax will have to be paid, but most likely, by next year, those companies that are important will simply revise the schemes and build them in such a way that, in general, tax revenues will come to naught, Khestanov said. According to him, in order to increase revenues to the budget, changing the agreement with the Netherlands alone is not enough. Similar changes will need to be made to agreements with other countries. And it's not that simple. This will cause retaliatory mutual actions, which are incomprehensible. This is an extremely controversial decision. Most likely, we will not receive any special benefits, but we will spoil relations with many countries. And this is likely to have long-term consequences. Therefore, I am deeply convinced that the most prudent thing was not to do this, Khestanov said.
