The prize fund of the Nobel Prize will exceed the mark of €950 thousand

The prize fund of the Nobel Prize will increase by 1 million Swedish kronor (95.8 thousand) and in the amount of 10 million kronor (958 thousand). This was announced on September 24 by the chairman of the Nobel Foundation, Lars Heikensten, his words are quoted by Dagens Industrii. As Heikensten pointed out, increasing the amount of money is important to strengthen the position of the Nobel Prize in relation to competing awards. At the same time, he noted that such an increase in the amount of prize money became possible due to the current ratio of costs and capital of the fund headed by him. It is also indicated that the amount of this type of premiums has changed over the years, and now the management of the fund wants it to grow further. According to the news agency, earlier it became known that the announcement of this year's Nobel Prize winners will be held in October and will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the Nobel Peace Prize, usually awarded at the Oslo Town Hall, will be awarded at the University of the Capital of Norway.
