The capital of South Ossetia, Tskhinvali returned the old name Stalinir


The decree on the use of the old name of the capital of South Ossetia of the city of Tskhinvala was signed by the President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilo. This is reported by the press service of the Head of State on April 27. The old name of the capital of South Ossetia Stalinir will be used during events related to the commemorative dates of the Great Patriotic War. In particular, the city will be called Stalinir on May 9 and June 22. Also, ministries and the capital administration were instructed to carry out a number of events aimed at popularizing the old name of the city. Recall, the city of Tskhinval was named Stalinir between 1934 and 1961. Thereafter, the town was called Tskhinvali until 1991, and Tskhinvali since 1991. Earlier, the news agency reported the return of the name of the city of Stalino to Donetsk, the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic.
